Higher Mortality Rates

Data from Eurostat shows: “Excess mortality in the EU climbed to +16% in July 2022 from +7% in both June and May. Life Insurance Data


​​Data gathered from the Society of Actuaries documents excess mortality seen from Q2 2020 to Q1 2022 per life insurance claims.  Per the website:  “The Group Life COVID-19 Mortality Survey gathers a high-level view of U.S. Group Term Life Insurance mortality results during the COVID-19 pandemic through March 2022, as compared to prior period baseline mortality results.”  

Q3/Q4 2021 and Q1 2022 have higher excess mortality than during 2020 and Q1/Q2 2021.

Note:  COVID vaccines began distributing in Dec 2020/Jan 2021.  Vaccine mandates began in Q2/Q3 2021.  The first round of booster shots began in Aug/Sept 2021.  The second round of boosters began March 2022. However, the Society says that they did not look at vaccination status or make any claims about the causal relationship to the COVID-19 vaccines. ​
